Gaining Perspective

05.19.24

I do not know about you all but I struggle with having perspective. For students, their perspective is typically focused on school work, building their resume, and planning their future. Adults who are past this stage in life are thinking about families, careers, and once again planning for the future. This can feel overwhelming. I find that I get stuck in the mindset that where I am right now is where I will be forever. For some, that phrase may comfort you and for others, it may terrify you. Some of us might not mind staying right where we are because it is comfortable and familiar. But what if I told you there is a different option, one guaranteed to be better than where you are right now? For those of you who do not want to be in the place where you are right now, what if I told you that you are guaranteed to be in a better place eventually? No matter which side you are on both have the same answer.

This is where having perspective comes into play. This is something that I am actively working on and am certainly no expert at. This life here on earth is a blip compared to the eternity we will be in one day. It is important to maintain a perspective of why we were created and our purpose here on Earth because it makes life easier to live. When we remind ourselves that we are here to spread the good news and love others well, we begin to see everything else in life through that lens.

The Lord sent His only son to die for our sins so that we can have that different option. That option is far better than anything this world could ever offer. When we accept Christ as our savior we gain a new perspective. We know that the pain we feel here on Earth won't last forever and it certainly will not find us in Heaven. So remember this the next time you need a little perspective.
