all for the glory of God

I have recently attended the Passion Conference in Atlanta Georgia. I highly recommend attending if you are in the age range and are looking for applicable messages. Louie Giglio gave a powerful message at the conference that encapsulated the purpose of creation; to glorify God. I could not help but notice the essence of communion surfacing with each reference to the glory of the Father.

We take communion as a reminder of the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross for our sins. Louie brought up a powerful point about this though. Jesus also died on the cross to give glory to God. The cross shows God's great love for us and illuminates the fact that He is the one true God. In the Bible there are many people groups who worship false gods and in doing so they are trying to reach their god through sacrifices. But if we look at the one and only true God we will see that He reaches down to us through His sons sacrifice on the cross. He met us even though we are dead in our sins for the chance that we may choose Him and be brought back to life.

Let's take a look at Philippians 2:6-11.

"Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death---even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Woah.
